You have not done anything wrong
A baby who wakes as soon as you put them down can make bedtime feel like a loop. Holding and comforting your baby are normal ways to care for them. If transfers have become difficult, you can look for a new starting point without blaming the support you have given.
Make the sequence familiar
Notice whether your baby falls asleep during feeding, rocking or cuddling. For a healthy baby around four months or older, a calm routine with feeding earlier may create space to practise settling in the crib while awake. This is a learning opportunity, not a requirement to manage without you.
Stay close and responsive
Try a quiet phrase, gentle touch or picking up to calm if needed. If your baby becomes upset, respond and revisit the step when ready. Keep the sleep surface safe; do not add pillows, positioners or padding to imitate being held.
Begin where you can repeat it
Choose one bedtime to practise rather than insisting every nap changes too. If settling remains difficult, Katrina can help you review timing and the approach together. You can discuss your preferences on a free 15-minute introductory call.
Coaching and healthcare have different roles
This guide offers general education, not a medical assessment. Talk to a qualified healthcare provider about health, growth, feeding, breathing or persistent distress. For an urgent concern, seek urgent medical help.
