Begin with your family’s goal
Families have different sleeping arrangements. If you want your child to settle in their own bed, talk about what you hope will change and why. For older children, include their questions rather than present the change as a punishment.
Make the bed part of a familiar routine
Keep the evening sequence short and repeatable. A book, connection and clear goodnight can give the transition a steady starting point. Check that the sleep setup suits your child’s age; infant sleep safety requirements are different from those for an older child.
Decide how help will work
Explain how your child can ask for support and what you will do during the night. Use calm reassurance and meet genuine needs. A response plan is easier to follow when caregivers agree before everyone is tired.
Change at a manageable pace
Notice what feels easier and where more support is needed. Katrina can help you choose age-appropriate steps that respect your child’s needs and your comfort. Start with a free 15-minute conversation about your goal.
Coaching and healthcare have different roles
This guide offers general education, not a medical assessment. Talk to a qualified healthcare provider about health, growth, feeding, breathing or persistent distress. For an urgent concern, seek urgent medical help.
